FAQs

Please reach out if you cannot find an answer to your question here.

I offer tailored and client-centered comprehensive neuropsychological and psychodiagnostic assessment services to evaluate cognitive, emotional, educational, adaptive, and behavioral functioning in order to arrive at diagnostic clarity and establish recommendations for treatment and accommodations for services.

As a psychodiagnostician I can asses for any brain-behavior related concerns. For example, some concerns for assessment might include; attentional issues, autism spectrum disorder, traumatic brain inquiry, behavioral issues in children, personality or emotional functioning concerns, and many more. If unsure if its something I'd assess for, send me an email to ask!

The test battery will be specifically tailored based on your age and needs. However, there will be some components of functioning which will aways be assessed (for example, attention, memory and learning, cognitive functioning, and a personality/emotional screening) in order to rule out potentially confounding variables. Other tests and measures will be included as needed in order to answer your referral questions and arrive at an accurate diagnosis.

Yes. As a neuropsychologist, I assess everything brain-behavior related, and testing with me is designed to answer your questions, get an accurate diagnostic impression, and establish recommendations for treatment. The test battery I design for you based on the questions you have will not just assess for a single issue, but will rule out any potentially confounding factors and will create a roadmap of your overall functioning.

I was trained in the collaborative therapeutic method of assessment. This means that while assessment itself is not considered therapy, every interaction has the potential to be a helpful and therapeutic interaction.

The assessment process is a fluid and collaborative process between myself, my team, and you as the client. The initial battery will be designed to catch potential "red flags," and if further concerns come up throughout the course of testing additional tests may be added at that time in order to arrive at accurate diagnostic results.

In most cases, testing will start either the same week or the week after the intake appointment. It is best practice to complete testing as soon as possible after the assessment relationship has been established, as some treatments rely on early intervention for better prognosis (autism for example) and cannot wait for a lengthy assessment process. I do not keep waitlists for this reason.

The first step is the intake appointment, during which we will discuss your complete developmental and symptomatic history and concerns for the assessment. At that point we will complete the test battery. We will then begin the assessment process either that week or the week following. You will complete anywhere from two to four testing appointments that are scheduled approximately a week apart. After testing is complete, you will come in to discuss results. The complete process will take anywhere from one to two months from the intake session to reception of the written report.

No. I strongly believe that testing should be completed over a small period in order to control for issues like cognitive fatigue (which generally occurs within the first two hours for most individuals) and emotional triggering (this testing can be emotionally difficult for some and its best to take it in chunks to allow for breaks). Additionally, testing over a course of a couple of weeks allows me to see and interact with you on a number of different occasions which may be important for assessing certain issues (for example, behavioral concerns or bipolar disorder). This is the best way to get the most accurate results for your assessment.

Yes, if services are diagnostically appropriate. At the completion of the assessment you will come in for a feedback session during which we'll discuss diagnostically appropriate next steps. You'll also be provided with a full diagnostic report with extensive recommendations which will be the tool you can use moving forward to pursue services and accommodations.

Both the intake and feedback sessions, as well as some assessment sessions can be completed via telehealth. While its possible to complete a full assessment via telehealth in some cases, in other cases the issues being assessed may be too complex and may require an in-person visit. Check with me and we can come up with a plan that works best for you!

Possibly YES! I am a PSYPACT provider. PSYPACT is an interstate agreement that grants psychologists the authority to practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) in participating states. To find out if your state participates, and to learn more about PSYPACT, click HERE

I do not offer therapy services. At this time I only provide assessment/testing services.

While I am not currently on any insurance panels (so would be considered "out of network"), I'm happy to provide you with a superbill at the end of services so that you can submit for reimbursement from your insurance provider. However, as every plan is different, I do recommend checking with your insurance provider before starting the assessment to see what services are covered and what will be reimbursed.
